A Champion's Paddle, Story of Gearlab First Athlete Movie

Welcome to Gearlab Outdoors, where we are thrilled to introduce our very first Gearlab Athlete Movie: A Champion's Paddle. Our film showcases the incredible skills and inspiring story of Amber Champion, our Global Ambassador and a professional kayaker based in Canada.
Mike Shih and Tiffany Chiu of Gearlab Outdoors traveled all the way from Taiwan to Vancouver Island to catch up with Amber in her natural habitat. Against the stunning backdrop of mist-covered rainforests and wild, sandy beaches, we witnessed Amber putting her Kalleq paddle to great use in the legendary surf and learned more about her unique story and love affair with the Greenland paddle.
As you'll see in the film, Amber's journey from kayaking for fun to becoming a Level 4 Instructor and Level 3 Instructor Trainer with Paddle Canada is nothing short of remarkable. At just 27 years old, Amber has already surpassed many male athletes in her field, thanks in part to her steely determination and indomitable spirit. And while Amber may cut a slight figure and greet you with a warm smile, make no mistake: she is a force to be reckoned with. As a woman operating in a male-dominated arena, Amber must always be at the top of her game. One of her stand-out credentials is her enthusiasm for and experience with Greenland paddles, which she began adding to her "kayaking closet" seven years ago. In the film, Amber explains how the Greenland paddle offers power throughout the stroke, not just in the initial catch phase, making it a valuable tool in any kayaker's arsenal.
Our time with Amber on Vancouver Island was truly unforgettable, and we're excited to share her story with you.
